Question $500 Biodiesel Contraption -- Dual Pole Resin Technology?

First things first -- here is the link:

NEW WVO System III

Here it is on eBay for $449 + $49 shipping ready to go.

Note they have a 100% approval rating (275 positives and 0 negatives) on eBay with no negative feedback.

Here is a picture of the equipment:

Here is a picture of the process:

Here are the steps as listed on their website:
  • Diesel fuel and WO (waste oils) is premixed in the upper tank.
  • The mixture is then allowed to settle 15 minutes so any water may separate.
  • The flow valve is opened and the fuel mixture gravity flows into the lower tank.
  • Lower tank contains a SUPER sized 10 micron filter and two types of resins.
  • As the fuel moves upwards through the dual resin layers and is "scrubbed"
  • These resin's remove acids and other corrosive agents found in used oils.
  • Finally alternative Diesel grade fuel flows out of the discharge hose. DONE!

From their site: "Dual-pole resin is NOT regenerate-able like Bio-Pass systems are (their other product they sell that can be cleaned & reused) but will last much longer and is much more convenient to use. Only a coarse 10 micron pre-filter is required before the oil passes through the dual resin layer. Dual-pole resin behaves like a magnet, filtering out particulate matter down to 1/2 micron in size. Dual-pole resins can swell up to 50 times their original size while absorbing all the solid particulates, water bonded fatty acids and glycerin groups. Once fully loaded with contaminants it with swell until it pushes against the upper lid of the filter tank. This will cause the "micro screen" to clog as designed and this event will warn you that it is time to remove the old resin and ad a new refill charge. The good news is that this system can process well over 50,000 gallons of oil before the resin is saturated and needs changing (That is less than 1/10 of penny per gallon, a bargain!) but this depends much on how contaminated your oil is."

You can use waste motor oil OR waste vegetable / animal oils. You have to mix anywhere from 5% to 50% of diesel with these oils and then run them through the contraption. The ratio varies depending on your climate and the quality / viscosity of the waste oil. The less viscous the waste oil and the hotter the climate, the lower the ratio of diesel you can use.

You have to use 2 bags of their proprietary "Dual-Pole Resin Oil Processing Media" to make this work. Replacements are $199 at their site but they claim you can make 50,000 gallons of diesel before you have to buy new ones. The unit comes with 2 bags included in the $499 price tag....

So what do you all think? It's different.
