Water extraction post washing

I have been reading about the WVO system III and noticed that it uses salt in the bottom of the drum to attract water from the oil mixture. Throwing out ideas, could a solution of biodiesel/water post washing be drawn through a bed of salt remove the water from the fuel? The link to the WVO system III states that you should not worry because salt will not mix with oil so if it attracts water and will not mix with oil, couldn't it be used as a filter media for water extraction from the cleaned bio fuel?
