I am just amazed at the fuel milage my Cummins delivers. At the risk of being the first liar it varies now between 20 and 26.7mpg empty around town with mostly 70% freeway and 30%stop and go. I have a 3 1/2" exhaust and have changed from a 21 to an 18cm turbo housing, no pump adjustments at all.My milage went up about 2-3mpg with the mods. I am curious as to what others are experiencing and with what engin modifications. This could be interesting. I also wonder how this info would compare to a similar post on the Newer truck pages. Be Honest Now.(I bet it will get even better milage when I get a TDR sticker in the window)

I was getting around 20 mpg. Two weeks ago I sent it in for more power! They rebuilt the injectors with the 215 tips. Removed the ve pump and recalibrated it. They are estimating that it is now putting close to 210 hp. out. I have no idea on what that did to my torque though. Now even though I have been playing with it and haven't lost any races http://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb/smile.gif I got 21 mpg. on first tank. I'am going to have to refill for the second time on Monday. I think it may go up higher if I would quit running it so hard. Oh well I don't think that will happen anytime soon!

Most of my driving is at 100 kmph (60mph) on flat groing in cruise. Average between 22 and 25 mpg Imperial gallons. When towing a 6500 lb trailer, drops to 15 - 17 mpg.

So far I have seen a high of 27 mpg (Imperial) highway while taking it easy and unloaded. With the camper on, 18-20 mpg seems to be normal.
Only had the truck 8 months. It only has 108000 km so far.

I have kept a log of all the diesel fill-ups and the kilometers since I purchased the truck in 1992. My best mileage on the highway going to Williams Lake (unloaded truck) has been a little over 26 miles per (imperial) gallon. The average total mileage since 1992 for over 62,000 km is 21.61 miles per (imperial) gallon. The bulk of my driving is done within the city limits.

I usually get around 19 to 20 mpg US(empty) when driving on trips with a heavy foot. My high has been 21 and my low was 15 (winter fuel from an unknown station). While having a total gross weight of 12,000 lbs I averaged 17 mpg from Mississippi to Boston. This is with a bone stock truck. I am waiting to see if the 16 cm2 housing makes a difference.

I got 22-23 mpg when commuting (25 miles one way, about 70 percent highway). I've gotten a high of 26.5 mpg while on a trip. I got around 18 mpg towing a 21 foot travel trailer. This has been pretty consistent throughout the life of the truck, even after turning up the fuel pump at around 100,000 miles. I'm now using my Jetta TDI for my commute (50-55 mpg).

I forgot to specify that it was in MPG US. In MPG imperial gallons I get what Doug gets, around 27 MPG Imp.

I had to correct the Imp MPG,My math wasn't very good, its around 23-24 MPG Imp.. Sorry about that http://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb/redface.gif.

Being from Texas I'm not familiar with Imperial gallons. Can someone enlighten me so I can relate these different results. I could dig out some old books but it would be easier if someone would help out.I forgot there was so many Canadians on the sight.

preleeguy

1 imperial gallon = 4.546 litres
1 US gallon = 3.785 litres

therefore one imperial gallon is 1.2009 times larger than one US gallon
or
one US gallon is .83268 the size of one imperial gallon.

I can only seem to muster 17 mpg from mine. I'm a little baffled by the thing since I have the Amsoil in it, and try not to have a heavy foot. I just got my K&N, so we'll see if it helps. I'm waiting until I run this tank through it until I pour the bottle of Staydyne in. I'll post results once I run this tank through it.

Last summer, we travelled over 9000 miles on our way from Sacramento to the TDR Nationals & return via Maine, Quebec and points north. Averaged out to 22.7 mpg. Average driving speed in 5th OD (Gear Vendors) was 70-75.
When hauling my 25 foot sailboat which weighs 9200 pounds with trailer, we averaged 13.6 from Sacramento to Anacortes, Washington and return.

I got about 19 1/2 on my last tank going back and forth to work etc. I haven't done any upgrades yet.
My truck has 4.10 gears w/5 sp. You guys doing 70+ mph, I don't think my gears will go that high. I may try some 255/85/16 tires to up speed somewhat.

I finally finished off the tank with the Staydyne Performance formula in it, but I don't think things changed much. I got 18 mpg. I guess I'll just keep modifyin', I need a different exhaust, 16cm housing,... I'm sure that I can think of some more things down the line. Until then, Keep runnin' strong.
