Moab Trip, 27 Sep-1 Oct

As we're evolving our chapter and looking at events I wanted to inform everyone of a BIG event we do every year alternating between Moab, UT and Tellico, TN. It is called RamJam, and is a very big Mopar truck jamboree.

RamJam typically involves lodging in a KOA or hotel for a couple nights, and for sure some of the best 4-wheeling you'll ever do during the day.

This year RamJam is officially at Tellico Off Road Park in Tennessee, but for those of us in this area we will be going to Moab for our own Jam, and the dates for Moab this year are 28 Sep - 30 Sep.

Here's what is already in place. On 27 Sept, in the morning, some Rocky Mountain area folks are planning to meet up at Christophers Dodge World in Golden, just before the first big hill up the pass, off I-70 on the west side of Denver. We are meeting there and via I-70 heading up and over the pass en-route to Grand Junction where we'll stop for about an hour to pick up more convoy members and rest/gas up. Then we'll press on into Utah and on to Moab.

We will then spend the next three days off-roading on the most spectacular trails you'll ever see. Any 4wd vehicle can do this - ANY. You do NOT need huge lift and big tires. You will need a good, reliable truck, and lots of enthusiasm. Every 'obstacle' has a by-pass and are often taken. Some of us hit the hard-core stuff while the others watch. It is fantastic!

Last year we had two truck in particular that we were a little curious about. One was IDually's Cummins-powered Ramcharger, and the other was KillerBee's 05 quad cab Cummins 4x4. By the end of the first couple trails both guys were absolutely amazed...and hooked...about how well their big heavy rigs did on the trails. It was absolutely awesome! Full-size rigs are not a problem at all. Where it gets too technical, go around. Nobody cares if you hit the big stuff - just that you're there - that's all that matters.

Eat off the town - no need to bring/prepare 'meals'. Each morning we head to breakfast wherever we want, then assemble each morning at the City Market, buy some lunch in advance (hoagie, etc) and some water/sodas for the trails, and head out. We get to the trail of the day, air down the tires, lock in the hubs, and spend around 8 hours having a total blast.

This is a really great event, and I want to encourage everyone to come out for it. Please do not be afraid you will tear up your rig - that doesn't happen. There are two reasons why - first, we go very slow when we need to, and second we have some very good spotters to make sure your tires are where they're supposed to be.

You will not regret it, and you will have amazing memories, and you will want to go again next year.

So, Moab, Sept, be there! More details to follow on this thread.
