Thumbs up Diesel Thunder

Well, Diesel Thunder was great! The new location was nice, in that it was all paved with lots of parking. Thanks to Jason and Bob and everyone else involved (Dodge dealer and dyno shop too); it was well-run and didn’t go too late to get to the track. Nice trucks aplenty! Great to see everyone again (no, I’m not going to list your names! ).
Piers was doing some pretty nice burnoffs, so I felt obliged to “up the ante” with one of my own when we left for the track (yee-haw!! ). I understand Hoss did one behind me, but I was busily working at catching Piers after we left the red light (I almost wish my truck would hook up in 2wd) so didn’t see it. Note: I WILL PAY FOR A COPY OF THE VIDEO FOOTAGE! I would also love to see pics of the burnoffs and racing (oh please).
Racing: After giving the newcomers some instruction on how to stage and launch, we got a nice little surprise with a PRO TREE! Sorry guys… I think young Will Fletcher got the best light of the night with a .012 (driving Piers’s ’04). He learned from the best .
The racing trophy was won by Lance in his first gen truck (after unloading the camper in the parking lot). He earned it, and showed that having massive horsepower is no guarantee when it comes to bracket racing… Nice work, man!
I ran my all-time best of 11.73 @116.02 (thanks, Fletchers )! My other times were 11.74, 11.76, 11.80, 11.81 (not in that order). This is drug-free, of course! I went out in the 3rd round thanks to Jim Fuller getting me on the tree for the second time (in two meetings). Jim, come on out to the Randy’s Off Road race; it ain’t gonna happen a third time. I did get him on ET, though, with him dialing a 12.60 to my 11.73… Who’d have thought?
Hoss gave some rides and dropped into the 11’s with some serious traction problems. Killer, dude!
Fletcher’s truck was the quickest diesel there, running 10.52 @133mph (enough to break out against Lance in the 3rd round).
Darren (high HP, no drug, winner at the dyno) broke his output shaft at launch going against me. It was his first time racing and he sure got some experience!
There was a Dr. Performance truck in attendance that we had seen in a trailer at Bandimere - 2wd twin truck with lots of potential… The crew is really nice. I hope they can get it tuned right; it should be dangerous.
The announcer really talked us up, and I could hear him laughing from disbelief about our times. Spectators and racers watched with disbelief…
