external wastegate options to grow with...

What are the options for wastegating? I'd like an external setup with my current B1-2 that I can gate to 40 +/-, as well as use in later twin setup after studs, rings, P&P... I've seen Piers' modified ATS manifold, I've seen adapters between the manifold and turbo. Lots of info through PMs already (thanks to all), but what are the pros/cons of any given setup?
