Nhra Super Stock Class For Diesel

Several of us have been working on rules for new proposed classes in NHRA’s super stock eliminator. NHRA has assured us that if we together will present them with rules agreed upon by a majority of us they will accommodate us.

The premise for doing this is to have a legitimate venue and a stable sanctioning body for people to invest in first class race programs . where we all can all show case our abilities and acquire lucrative sponsorships.
NHRA is such a place, the races are attended by many hundreds of thousands of fans at 23 national event and twenty to thirty thousand at the more then 65 divisional races. The possibility are unlimited to achieve this goal, but we have to work on this together .

The first class will be in the super stock modified truck section , this allows for back half chassis’s , IE four Link , ladder bars and such. You have a set of rules to go by limiting what you can and can’t remove , but things like AC system , heater , power steering , and other weight bearing items. You must run steel body parts with the exception to the hood.

This class will be a minimum of 4500 lbs with driver at the end of the run.
Any light duty automotive diesel engine is acceptable any internal modification is allowed.

TURBOCHARGER One ,Single turbocharger allowed One Intercoolers allowed , air to water intercoolers allowed . water injection allowed with air to air intercooler only. Example air to water intercooler or water injection , but not both. Tap Water only nothing in mixture .

TRANSMISSION any OEM allowed Tran brake allowed .

This class will be a viable class for everyone , the reasoning behind the single turbo is simple ,to keep this class from running faster the dreaded 9.99 .
When a competitor in a class runs faster then 9.99 or 135 mph then the results are everyone in the class will then be required to get a competition licenses and a chassis tag.

For those of you that don’t have first hand knowledge of super stock, it is for the most part a bracket race , with one exception , when you come up against a vehicle in you same class, its heads up first one to the finish line wins .
You will qualify by running as far under you class index as possible , the farther under you run the better you qualify.
In about a third of the national events you have the chance to run CLASS where if you’re the fastest or the only one to show up , you win class , a WALLY and about $ 1000, just for showing up .
If your lucky enough to win a national event you could put a nice chuck of change , $15,000 in you pocket and about $7500 for a divisional event. The rules are just what we have been hammering out , add your constructive 2 cents
