Seriously Injured Comp racer, Joe Angelo

Joe Angelo a retired Minnesota auto shop school teacher and NHRA competition eliminator racer was injured at the NHRA Lucas Oil div 4 race at the Texas Motorplex Saturday. I have known Joe and his wife Rosie for a long time and they along with their daughters are one of NHRA’s competition eliminators best known families. the car a B/Econo dragster drifted and crashed Saturday during a qualifying the following is a few updates from the comp forum

All our thoughts and prayers are with the Angelo family.
Due to the extent of his injuries it is doubtful Joe will be moved any time soon. Since he is in ICU flowers are not allowed but if anyone would like to send a card, he is in Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
A Special thanks to the Div 4 folks as they reached into their pockets and donated approximately $3500.00 for Joe and Rosie. Also a special thanks to the people that stepped up and donated a rent car, gas money, motel and getting their truck & trailer back to Minnesota for them. Also a big thanks to DRAW for their help. Always there for the racer and their family.
You won't find better people than Joe & Rosie. They will be in our prayers and in our hearts. Praying for a speedy and complete recovery.

From Michelle Angelo...
We would like to take a moment to thank everyone for all of their thoughts, prayers, and generosity. It means so much to all of us.
We just got back from the hospital for the day. There is not much change; he is in critical
condition. At this time, he has a brain hemmorhage (which we don't know
much about at this time), multiple back fractures (no spinal cord injury), 9
broken ribs, a broken scapula, 25% of his body has first, second and third
degree burns (he will need skin grafts on his hands, arms, back, possibly thighs), he is currently on a respirator and in drug induced paralysis.
At this time, three of his major body systems (heart, lungs, and kidneys) are in distress. None of the injuries can be addressed until his systems start playing nicely together in the sandbox. We are hopeful that things will
turn around as we all know that he is a stubborn old man and like a good challenge. Mom is a very strong woman and holding us all together. We will give an update when we can.
Thank you all so much!
Michelle Angelo & The Angelo Family
