P-pump question

If you P-pump guys had a 160 pump that needed some work, would you spend $250 (or a little more) and get it "adjusted", or $900 something and get a recon 215 pump?

Here's the deal - when I put DVs in my pump, there was an .018 washer that was just sitting in there - I had a hell of a time getting it out (of #1 only), and put it back just as I found it - except the truck had a dead miss on #1. Take 2 - I took out the washer all together - thinking maybe I ruined the pump, and it ran way better - still not perfectly smooth, but good enough for over 325 hp on a dynojet with a stock turbo...

Thoughts/suggestions?
