OK Pulling Tips and Info
Truck info: 2001 3500, 5 speed, 4.10 gears LS, 255/85 BFG MT's (33's), Pulling clutch and Edge Comp for now.
So there I was Saturday night Second to pull, I select 3rd gear low range, run the rpm's up to 3400 and start letting out the clutch. When she's fully engaged I look and I've got 3000 rpm's. Could I go with a higher gear selection or are the lower RPM's telling me I am out of horsepower.
First place was a 12 valve 308 feet, Second was a duramax at 280 something, third was a 12 valve with a slipping clutch at 274, second and third may be vice versa, but there I was forth with 272', I was happy to beat every Ford and thrilled with the new clutch, what a blast it was doing that first pull with the dual disk. I figure with the closeness of the finishes it all comes down to wheel speed
In a five speed 4th is pretty high, could I turn it? What about 2nd high range, that's in between 3rd and 4th low right? I know I need more horsepower but I'm waiting to build up the reserves for the new turbo first before I go to big injectors. I've got a set of DD 2's coming for now.
With my upgrades currently I figure I'm probably just under 300 hp, what do you guys with 5 speeds pull in and what kind of horsepower do you have, by the way that track was soft but the next one is a tight track (where I smoked the clutch last year)
What kind of horse power does 4th low need? How about 2nd high?
