Rear Springs for Pulling

Hey all- just thought I would post a question about the rear springs on my brothers 1997. His class doesn't allow blocking the rear suspension while pulling but this weekend he was at a non-points pull so we thru the blocks in to see how it would do. The results were WAY better than without. He is running traction bars.

So my question is...for those that can't block there suspensions what springs are you using to keep the suspension stiff? The springs he has now just have 3 leaves in the pack (can't believe these are 3/4ton springs...my GMC has 5 in the pack) I thought of adding at least 2 or 3 more springs to the pack and maybe even having the 2nd spring down (2nd largest) having it a military wraped. He would like to have a fairly decent ride on the road but its not a big deal if its ruff!

Anyone have any ideas?
