Which turbo.... again?...

I'm getting the ok, sorta, from the CFO (wife), for a turbo purchase for my birthday... Question is which one would you guys with experience recommend? I'm leaning towards a SPS62 from II, or maybe a Silver62. This is my daily driver and don't want too much more lag. I'd like to eventually be in the 600-700hp range, which shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. Any suggestions appreciated. I'd really like to go with compounds, but the lowest price would be ActicAir's at around $2800 and that's still too much of a stretch right now...
btw- meth/water, propane and/or nitrous isn't out of the picture either.
