Shade tree 1st Gen pulling Q.

I would like to attend about 2 or 3 local pulls a year with my 92. I would like to know if anyone pulls with a con OFE? I know that SB does not consider this a pulling clutch nor do I. But at my power level (est 300 hp) I do not think that I will win anything, I just want to have some fun. I pulled this truck once last summer with stock(?) clutch I tried a 3rd gear pull but I just sat and cooked the poor thing. Had to quickly go to 2nd and tortoised down the track. Pulled about 270' but not very fast.
In the mean time I have rebuilt my G360 and installed an SB con OFE.I pulled the clutch @ 300 miles to repair my rear main seal. I noticed on the pressure plate and flywheel that it looked like there was not 100% contact with the disk. Will this wear in as miles are put on? Mind you that the clutch is holding my power fine. Even with a full power 4th gear street run I can slip the clutch by pedaling it but it hooks up great when I let the clutch pedal up again. So no complaints with the OFE's performance.
Perhaps a different starting technique would make this possible? Say in 4 low/ 3rd gear start but not try to start with such high RPM's, and then after getting it moving go full throttle?
Any experience with this?
