Finally..........

Finally after all the questions and threads, I have officially become known as a diesel truck puller. May the 26th in Carlisle, KY I hooked to the sled for the very first time. Pardon the pun, but I am HOOKED! Got my Aurora 3000 on the truck Friday night and developed some nerves, so I didn't finish my weight bracket or my hitch. I figured no hurry I'll pull sometime. Saturday morning my wife actually made me get up and finish my mods, because "you've been getting ready for this for a year and a half". (Pretty cool wife huh) I got done with everything just in time to load the truck (figured I'd break), and head to the shower and on to the pull. Cured two headaches from anxiety before our class, but when I pulled out on the track the planets aligned, nerves gone, and I pulled my heart out. I've watched the video probably 30 times. Despite my ladder bars, I had kind of a hop off the line, and thought "here goes the T-case". I was at only half throttle until I finally hooked up at half track, and traveled 256 and change. I was so proud of my truck, cause even though I was in and out of the throttle 'til half track it never bogged at all. It ran strong. I had only met 1 or 2 of the guys I was
pulling with, but after being in the pits together and after my hook, I had 10 or 12 people around me telling me "good job" and asking me to come to the next pull. Almost everyone had some advice for next time. I figure I'll work on getting the truck hooked to the ground before I worry about more power.
After my pull I realized that in my rush to get to the pull, I had forgotten to air down the tires. Oh and did I mention I was about 800 lbs. light. Another thing that I was surprised about was as much smoke as my truck will dump on the street if you let it, it didn't smoke hardly at all going down the track. Only at the very beginning and the very end. First hook, no records broken, but no parts broken either. I am tickled to death.

Thanks to all that have helped me figure out my path
