2WD drag trucks tire size?

Took my new and improved 99 to the strip last wed night and was dissapointed in my times until I fiquired out that I had no more rpm's left before I hit the traps. I had 4 consecutive runs topping out at 108. I looked for a lower (3.08) gear as I have the 3.55 rear. No luck no one makes anything smaller than 3.55. DOT slicks seem to top out at 28" for the 16" rim. Hence my 108 top speed. I have watched others try the 15" rims but they have had problems clearing the rear drums. Anybody got any ideas?
