Want to put a 12V in my 96 Ford!

Hello,I got a 1996 Ford F250 reg cab 4X4.It has a Powerstroke in it right now and is pretty hopped up,but I want more with less hassle.The engine blew at 153K and blew a head gasket at 161k,so this is another reason.I want to put a 94-98 12V in it,I heard these were the better year for the 12V.I need to know what I'll need,a engine of course

,and i want to keep my E4OD.I will appreicate any and all advice given.Thanks in advance
