Alt hookup.

OK so I'm a little dense when it comes to electrical charging systems. I have done a search for how to use my 93 Dodge alt thats on my doner engine in a 76 Ford. I have found posts that comment on how to do it but I get lost when they speak in general terms and field pole this and pos lead that.
What I have is this. A large guage black wire that runs to ground. A large guage wire that runs to the battery. Then the two wires that go to the plug are a Blue wire and a Green wire. If someone could define what each of these are and how to hook these to what part that would be great.
