Anyone ever converted a E350 van?

We've been looking at Sportmobile 4x4 E350 vans.
Sportsmobile Custom Camper Vans - Your Home Away From Home.
Since the 6.0 PS have such a lousy rep, I've thought about buying a gas rig and converting it to a 5.9 CTD. My thought is the 5.9 might be too long to fit. Any thoughts or advice on this?
