Need Opinions/Advise

I am wanting to put a cummins 5.9 motor in a 72 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4, but I am wanting to build it to truck pull and mud race, I would prefer to stay away from electronics, what I need to know is what year of motor would be best for this? Which injector pump is best etc. etc. I would like to use a turbo 400 tranny. Does anyone have adapters for this ? I want to make lots of power. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
