Reverse Horn Honk Simple Fix

Just in case anyone is still annoyed by this honking in reverse with the door open:

On the my 2004 the seat belt fastening fix does not work.

On my 2004 you can easily disable this annoying feature by opening the drivers door before you are ready to back up and tranny in Park.

1. Open the drivers door.

2 Take a small screwdriver, piece of wood or your finger etc and push the latch on the door shut, ( push towards the outside of the door), it will click in the shut position and the door AJAR lamp on the dash will go out.

3. Once the lamp goes out the CPU will not beep the horn as it thinks the door is closed with the latch engaged with the striker.

4.When you are finished with the back up driving task, go to PARK and just pull on the inside door handle and the latch will go to the door open position.

5.Close the door and drive off.

6. If you want to disable this feature permanently, remove the inside door
plastic, only about 5 screws and the handle, on the connector C304 that carries the wiring to the latch mechanism, pull out the Violet wire going to C304's Pin #1, this will open the path to ground for the Door Ajar signal
and hence the CPU will see the door always in the closed position.

This is getting nuts:eek:
Dodge pump # 1 got trashed when box failed about 35k
Flused all 3 times and did box and autozone pump.
Auto zone pump failed about 3k later 3 months
Then 2nd autozone pump failed about 5k later 4 months
Now its leaking again 5k later and about 3 months#@$%!
All 3 autozone pumps leaked at the front end where the pulley is?
I never pounded or abused the pumps and always pressed the pulley back on with the internal threads in the shaft like the book says.
Just ordered a new one from dodge 250.00:{
Note to self Auto zone pumps suck:o

? Electric vacuum pump

I have a 04 3500 and on the wheel well on the passenger side between the battery and firewall there is what appears to me to be an electric vacuum pump that cycles on for a couple of seconds then shuts off for maybe 10 seconds. If anyone can please tell me what this so i know what to ask for at the dodge parts house. It has a hose that runs out the bottom and t's off and goes into the firewall between the wipers and continues over and under the drivers side battery. It does not make a difference if the engine is running or the key is just in the on position. If i unplug the electric connection it stops the cycle and does not seem to affect the engine. I unpluged it today at work and drove it home with no problems. Thanks in advance

Symptoms of a Dying Battery (-ies) ?

Well, here's the story:

Today after work I get in to start the truck and it fires up a little slowly and has a very rough shaky idle. Some blue and white smoke belched out of the exhaust for 5-7 seconds--then cleared, but the rough idle remained. It was 48 degrees outside and the truck sat for 10 hours. The grid heaters are doing their normal cycling during the rough running.

So, I turned on the manual high idle and the truck RPM bumps right up to 1100 and runs perfect. So I increased the idle up to 1500 and still smooth.

Turned off high idle and truck idled rough. High Idle on = runs smooth.

Now after the grids shut off and the alternator started charging...idle smoothed out slightly and got progressively better over the next five minutes. It drove fine on the way home.

Fuel Pressure...checked and fine
Volt Guage...charged above 14V the whole way home (12 miles interstate)
Fuel Filters...factory and 2 micron changed 1000 miles ago
Power Service fuel additive...check

Could this be due to the _factory batteries_ dying on me? Was the load from the grids too much on the cold batteries for the injectors to all fire correctly?

Only had 1 puff of smoke one time prior...bought truck new, no engine mods/programmers ever. Intake/Exhaust only.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Traveling from Ohio to Colorado last week, pulling a GN thru St Louis, I hit a bump in the road and out of the corner of my eye I saw movement on the speedometer. As I glanced down I saw the MPH indicator fall to 0 and then return to 60, I'm not sure if the lights blinked or not, it happened too fast.
I could not find any loose connections in my once over check, and it has not happened again. My son wants to use the truck to tow another truck back this coming week and I'm just a little concerned. Anybody got ideas or had this happen???
