More land closure

Some of you might know about this, but most won't. There is a move afoot to close 9 million acres in Utah to ALL off road vehicles and mountain bikes. The bill, introduced by U.S. Rep. Maurice Hinchey of _New York_, would ban motorized recreation on 9.4 million acres of public land in Utah by inappropriately designating it as Wilderness. The devastating proposal would impact the Moab, San Rafael Swell and Chimney Rock riding areas, among others. Even though you might not ride or go to these areas, you should let your representatives know your opposition before they close your area. I picked this up on the AMA website shown below, and they make it easy to contact your representatives by email. Just click on address and on the Featured Issue click on TAKE ACTION. That will take you to Action Alert and scroll down thru issue to fill out information. Entering your zip code will sent email to appropriate reps, easy.

Steve. St. Laurent Ends the Enduro Season 4th In His Class!

In other news, our very own Steve St. Laurent finished the season in 4th place in his enduro motorbiking class, earning a handsome trophy.

"It was a grueling season," Steve said in a short interview. "Some tracks were easy and some were impossible. During a couple events, I wished I could die halfway through. Man was I beat! Road racing was easy compared to enduros; a one-armed paper hanger could easily finish them. Not only do you need both arms and legs in enduros, sometimes you wish you had an extra body! Man, it was tough I tell you."

He continued, "This winter I'm going to rebuild the bike and see if I can fix a few things. The power's not right where I want it, and sometimes the bike gets a little squirrelly. Next season I'm hoping to finish first. If I do, I'll stay in the class and take it easy. Yeah, right. I'll bump up a class. This's too much fun!"

Well, OK. I'd better 'fess up before Steve gets Big Angry to give me a propeller spin. I made up the quotes; it's a load of hooey. But he did finish fourth, and he's gotta post pics of his trophy!

ARCTIC CAT - SUPER DUTY DIESEL (http://www.arcticcat.com/atv/dirt.asp?category=UTILITY&model=SUPERDUTYDIESEL)

Specs seem a lot like mine, although mine is called the "TRV diesel" and is military green. I LOVE my diesel Arctic Cat. Any of yall in the market for an ATV should consider the diesel Arctic Cat. It is a torque monster for sure, especially with the "fuel enhancement"! :D

Quads and flat tires and fix-a-flats

Nothing gives you a lower feeling than coming back from the top of the mountain while hunting and finding your ride back to camp has a flat tire. My quad had this happen. I have the Cabela's Leak-Lava in the tires, but it was still flat. After checking for obvious causes, including a broken bead, I remembered that I had one of those little deals with 16g CO2 cartridges. I had never used it. 2 canisters and I was on my way! I got back to camp and drove around for two more days with a slow leak. It turned out that I gouged the sidewall (no leak lava there) and was able to patch it for the time being. Point of story: Those CO2 things are worth every last penny! They are small and work.
