Bomb - where the term originated?

I read the post on acronyms. But I've heard the term used by the younger croud for many years now....and they were not talking about vehicles. As in 'dats the bomb baby' on anything they thought was cool (to use a term from my generation).

Seems like words were made up to make 'bomb' into an acronym after the fact.

Any of you younger dudes feel free to 'hip this square cat straight'.
