Max EGTs?

The person who owned the my truck before me has a small sticker on the pyrometer gauge that reads "950* MAX". I've been told 1050* and I've seen here that some say 1250*. What is the max EGT you should run? My pyrometer sensor is placed right before the turbo BTW. TIA.
