Dirty oil at 500 miles?

I swapped a 04, F250 4X4, XLT,V10, crew cab for an 05, 3500, Laramie, 4X4, Quad Cab, 8', black leather, red with silver bottom, 325/610, 4:10, SRW, Mopar Running Boards, RB4 Mopar Navigation System and on and on. This truck had 20K on it when I made the purchase (10/05). I don't know the orginal owner. Carfax said he put 20K on in 8 months. I've since put on 4K. To my question. I have changed the oil and filter 2 times. Both times the oil was black in 500 miles. Is this normal?
By the way, I was a long time Ford guy. This truck turned me into a CTD Dodge lover.
