Newb to the CTD

Well, I gotta make my first post sometime..so here it goes. I've had my 97 CTD for about a month now and I love it...except for the weenee shifting tranny. Anyway, I have adjusted the valves, serviced all compartments with Shaeffers syn. lubes, BHAF, 4in. pro flow exhaust, KDP fix, Isspro boost, pyro, trans.

I have owned Gm diesels my whole life from 6.2's, 6.5's and the d-max. So I am familiar with diesels and do my ALL my own work.

I am debating wether or not to grind or move my plate. I will be using the truck primarily for towing. I think I have talked myself outa doing this. I dont want a tempermental rig. She runs pretty darn good as-is. I am hitting 28 psi boost and EGT's are allowable.

So, I would like to turn my attention towards the tranny. I need to know how to remove the check ball in the cooler line...or is it recommended? Second, will a shift kit take care of my sluggish shifts? The tranny is a recent unknown stock rebuild. I know I really need a TQ and VB...but I am on a really tight budget. Anyway, Ive rambled enough...so hello to all and thanks for the replys in advance.
