Looking for CTD.. Want to know what problems affect what models.

Hey guys.. My first post here and I'm gonna be buying a mid to late 90's model CTD.. Probably a 2500 4x4 5speed.. I have a lot of questions regarding what year trucks had what problems..

The killer dowel pin.. What year trucks could possibly experience this problem?

The problematic lifter pumps.. Is this only on 24v diesels?? What is the fuel delivery setup on 12v's?

Steering box.. What happens?? What years had the problems??

This 53 block thing I've read about.. These have possible cracking problems, right? and what years can they be found in??

Another thing I'm worried about is roasted turbos.. I'm afraid of buying a truck that hasn't been taken care of like it should and has been shut down lots over its life with high egt's.. Is there anyway to tell if the turbo has been "cooked" a little?

NV4500 5th gear problem.. I've seen this mentioned, but not the remedy.. Is this problem on all NV4500's??

I think this is all my current worries.. Is there anything else I should be careful to ask about or look for? Hopefully I can find a good model year and remedy all problems before they occur.
