V-10 Turbo diesel

Friend at the gym just bought one (VW Toregage (sp) ) I will see it this Friday. I understand that this new V-10 diesel is real high tech. Anybody know anything about them? He says it is real fast and gets 20 something miles per gallon. Cost him $64,500 and it listed for $66,000 so he got a $2500 discount. Not bad on something that they will only import 1000 of into the USA this year. Please tell me what you have heard about this vehicle.
