Cat serial number

I just bought a 77' IHC Transtar II that's had a 3406 swapped in to replace the original Cummins. I was looking for the engine ID tag but I can't find it. Anybody know where the tag might be hiding under some paint or if there is another way to ID the motor. The motor is supposed to be a 400hp but it feels stronger than 400hp.
