Cool Open diff Drag Racing

This weekend I get a call from Jeff who got a call from a friend at the drag strip. Matt, the guy racing, is excited as he has just made a 13.1 pass at 106 mph in his 2wd, open diff'ed, street tire'd 2500 work truck.

Now maybe you guys will not appreicate this as much as I do but, Matt rolls into the water, starts his RR tire smoking. Then he eases forward until it stops spinning and the LR starts spinning. Then as he rolls forward and finishes the burn-out.

He has been as low as 1.90's 60 foots on street tires. Then on top of this was his MPH, 106!!! 12v on a stock HX35. Wanna talk low budget racer? 2500 4x2, stock tranny w/modified valve body but STOCK TC, 370's, 4" exhaust, and a few Garmon tuning tweaks.

The best part, Jeff was telling a group of us today that each time the power level increases, he keeps telling Matt something is gonna break (TC, headgasket, etc.) He's been telling Matt that for nearly 2 years now. This is the guy that won the TQ award at this January's dyno day at Suncoast Transmission. It was around 1030 - 1040 lbs ft. I can't believe the TC has not given up the ghost. Just amazing to me.
