Ford F-150 Diesel?

Ok I have been reading post and posts in regards to Furd
looking for a diesel for there F-150. My question is, If Ford went with Cummins What would the differance be between the V6 and the Inline 6? Would they have the same tow capacity? What about MPG? Any way sorry for the lame question and thanks for any resposnes.
