6.0 Liter Tried to Race Today
Pulled up in the left lane at a left turn arrow stoplight, going WB on Woodmen to SB I-25 in the Springs today and as it was turning yellow, a 6.0L F-350 QC flatbed dually, automatic, was at the light stopped with me in the right-most left turn lane.
It was a commercial truck, not sure if it was his or company's but tried to race me up the on ramp. Anywya, I turn right when the arrow turns green and take off as normal. Then in my pax mirror I see him trying to pass me, knowing he was not just accelerating as normal. I'm in 3rd at that time so I mash it and when I hit 4th I gained a truck length on him. I don't think he was ready for the smoke. But I beat him. I am not really surprised I beat him, since he was probably just a stock auto, I know they have power, and they should, they (6.0L) are at least 4 years newer than my 99. By the time I hit 5th I was couple hundred feet ahead as I merged faster than he did. I didn't bother to look back after that
It is time for more BOMBs though. That little race was too close for comfort.
But seeing that I have a slightly BOMBed 5-speed against a 4 yr newer stock auto, not a bad race. I have (slightly) more rear wheel hp and torque but the auto came in handy for him.
