Engine Design Advice on Long Stroke.......

OK I would like to read something that actually gives some advice about long stroke engines. I know I've heard a lot about "old wives tales" but I would like to read some "real data!" For example there must be some inherent advantage of holding speed on a hill with a longer stroke - I would assume - but maybe I'm all wet.......
