Need help on a powerstroke

Yeah I know, it is like saying a dirty word, but I need some info please. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between a 97 Powerstroke and a 99 Powerstroke diesel. My dad has a 99 Superduty with a bad engine, and we have access to to used 97 PSD that runs great. We are wanting to get it running so we can get it sold, but I don't want to just shove it in there if it isn't the same thing. If it were just used as a long block, and used everything else from the 99, would it be right? Thanks in advance, Nicholas
