911- Need help with a 7.3 E350(trans. problem)
Hey guys, I didn't want to clog the 911 section with Ford stuff.... but my Father in Law needs help, so I figured Gen Diesel would do.
He bought an ambulance off ebay for a work truck, flew to Ohio from FL to pick it up. Well, he left and within a few hours noticed he had a flat tire. While stopping to fix it, he noticed the transmssion was leaking fluid. He took it to a local shop and they pulled the trans. today. They thought the leak was from the oil pump. The mechanic is having a hard time pulling a cover in front of the transmission. He says its normally bolted on but this one isn't. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't know much about these, and I don't know much about the specific situation because my FIL's cell phone lost signal while he was talking about it.
The van is a 90 E350 7.3, auto.
Any ideas?
I'd like to find him a good trans. tech in the area, but I don't know exactly where he is yet- WV or VA so far as I know.
Thanks for any help!
edit: He's somewhere in the vicinity of Sissonville WV. The trans. was pouring fluid while running, not just a small leak. He said it did shift fine while he was driving earlier. The leak is coming from somewhere around the bellhousing.
