Getting A New Truck Outta State, Ca Emissions?

I'm working on a real good deal right now with a dealer in Texas for a '06. I'm in L.A. He told me that I can't get the truck because of Ca emissions. I looked on the Cummins site and it says that the motor is 50 state compliant. Can anyone shed some light? This deal will save me almost $8000!! I know diesels are exempt from smog laws, so what else should I tell him? I went to a dealer locally to find out info, but he couldn't find anything out. He called a smog guy and he told me that diesels are exempt, it's the gas that must have at least 7500 miles before Ca calls them used and can come here. Can anyone help??
