Detroit Diesel In chassis overhaul
Here's the story.....A friend of mine drives over the road. He was running along and heard a noise like a bunch of marbles in a coffee can as well as a bad miss. He pulled over ASAP and had it towed. The dealer told him a valve head broke off and has ruined that cylinder. They are recommending an in chassis overhaul. He's going to have it towed back here to MN by a friend of his. I told him I'd do the work if I can get a puller for a reasonable price. I may even build one if I need to.
Anyone done one? I'm sure I have all the tools, except that one....the cylinder sleeve puller. Do I need one? Where could I purchase one? How hard would it be to make?
I'd like to help him out, as well as make a bit of money... but if I can't do it...I can't do it...
Thanx guys!
Josh
