Faulty guage

Dash warning light comes on, makes an audible sound & then my oil pressure gauge drops to zero. Light will go out and I get oil pressure reading.

How do I determine if I have a faulty oil sending unit or a faulty dash gauge?

Also, not sure where the oil sending unit is located.
