XZT problems on PowerJoke

Friend of mine installed an XZT on his F-250 before he made a cross the country trip last month. After the first tank full of fuel he pulled over and removed the XZT. He said when he would let off the pedal and then applied power it had none and was real jumpy. Lots of black smoke.

Any thoughts?
