Wheezing 2nd Gen

I passed a late 2nd gen that was towing a large 5th wheel up a steep grade. It was barely moving and billowing out black smoke. As I passed, I heard the hiss of an air leak. I suspected a leaking or blown intercooler hose ( maybe a hole from where the body cuts the outlet hose from the intercooler).

I thought for sure he was going to pull over and check it out. I turned around to see if there was anything I could do but he was still plugging away.

If there is no boost, and he keeps driving it like that, will it do further damage?
