The Big Race!!!!

I went to Arkansas SUN/MON and got the new tranny and TC installed in the PSD at Brian's Truck Shop. The difference is unbelievable. It will now put up with the power the truck is making. The first thing I had to do when I got home today was pit the two trucks listed below against each other. The mods are listed. I made a total of 4 passes in each truck using the same G-TECH. Both trucks were weighed today on a local stone distributors scale. The PSD weighed 8800lbs and the CUMMINS weighed in at 7120lbs. The Dodge had more junk under the flat lid, the PSD is running without the ARE shell at this time.

The Cummins average was a 15.85 @ 85.3mph. 0-60 was 7.78.

The PSD's average was a 15.71 @ 86.1 mph. 0-60 was 7.53.

The Cummins is tracking the PSD down from about 40mph on. The advantage is all in the start. The new tranny just makes the PSD rip out of the hole, especailly with 4.10's and 4 tires.

My brother and I had a blast. After finishing he drove the PSD and I drove the Cummins. We started from a 50 mph roll with the PSD in drive and the Cummins in 5th. We went up to 100mph. The Cummins was ahead by a truck length and pulling away. The 4.10 geared PSD is all over at about 105-108. The Cummins ran right up to the engine governor in 6th gear. Speedo was around 115 or a little more.

The highest temps I could get in the PSD was 1250. The Cummins was right at 1200.

The PSD makes 29lbs of boost. The Cummins was making 35-36lbs.

It sure is a blast knowing I am not likely to get outrun no matter which one I climb into. It is really amazing how much power either one of these trucks can make. They are both a blast to drive. They are very different. The PSD's power seems very linear all the way through the RPM range, the Cummins just poors it on from about 1400-2500.

The one thing that really sticks out is the difference that a real sweet auto makes in one of these trucks. The PSD runs like a total different truck. It shifts very firm and right when it needs to...a far cry from what it was doing before. The Cummins is a blast to watch that big plume of smoke burp out at every gear change. I am enjoying "BURPING" on people that are annoying me...BOMB ON....CJ
