do you call it a truck or a pickup?

i've noticed that most people here call it a truck. i've grown up with the mindset that anything 1 ton or less is a pickup. I grew up on a farm/ranch and for practical reasons we called them pickups because when you said truck, you were talking about something different. I think of a truck as something with more than 2 axels and 6 gears, with some exceptions. Just curious what everyone else thinks?
