Cool It pulled the house down!

It pulled a house down, literally!
On Saturday I helped our church group tear down an old trailer and the additions built on it. The trailer had a bedroom added to the back and a living area on the front. They even built a roof over the trailer for additional coverage.

I started on a back corner where I was assigned to cut down a wall section and the corner posts with the sawzall. I was happy to get to tear something apart and not get in trouble for it! What else could a guy want for a fun Saturday? Anyway, the guys working on the other end started to pull sections down with a 2WD pick up. It just wasn’t working so I offered my snatch strap and chains and tried to help them find a strong anchor point on the truck. That wasn’t working either so I offered up the use of Cummins power. I was kinda done cutting on the back corner from this point on.

With a solid connection in the pintle hitch, the chain and strap connected to the ramshackle trailer, it was time to have fun. A few good solid jerks later, that end of the trailer was removed and in the dumpster. We had something going now, Cummins power and momentum. I put the truck on the other end of this shack and reconnected. Another series of pulls and the back room addition was lying on the ground. It just became a lot of fun after this section. We pulled the roof sections apart and then off came the front addition.

After most of the vertical stuff was horizontal and headed for the dumpster they wanted to see what was under the trailer frame. Pointing to the original trailer frame and floor Howard asked me, “Can we move this part and see what is underneath?” I don’t think he could have asked anything else and made me any happier to oblige. “Sure we can” I replied. I found a cross member near the back of the frame and connected the chains. This was easy to move off the foundation. It just slid right off.

I just wanted to let you know how much fun I had this weekend and how happy it made me to be able to help others. Being able to use the truck was added enjoyment. This thing really can pull down a house!
