DMV weight fees???

Got my registration in the mail today...
registration alone=$30
Vehicle License Fee=$182
WEIGHT FEE=$154 <------

is there a way to cut this number down? i heard if you get the truck weighed at a certified scale and get the documents to prove it is LESS than what is actually is on "file" ..it will not be so high...for instance, my 1993 first gen extended cab weighed almost the same but i payed LESS

...can someone guide me in the right direction?
