Cool #3985 Steam Engine 2002 Tour

The mighty and powerful Union Pacific steamer headed out in June and racked up quite a bit of mileage pulling a passenger consist throughout the midwest. It covered 3500 miles or so traveling from its home base in Cheyenne Wy and going as far as Chicago and Wisconsin. As always it created quite a presence wherever it went.

For those not familiar with good ol' 3985, it was built in 1943, is the largest functional steam locomotive in the world, weighs 1.07 million pounds and rated over 6000hp. It can handle a train normally requiring 2 or even 3 diesels. Since returning to the rails 21 years ago it has racked up well over 100,000 miles.
