Powerstroke bombing basics

I friend of mine has a 2001 Powerstroke with automatic transmission. He asked me what he can do to get some more power out of it, so I told him I would do a little research. I said the first thing he needs is to get some gauges so he knows what's happening with other mods.

Anyway, what can he do - in the correct order of perference - to his truck to get more power?
