Fords new 6ltr questions

A friend of mine asked me if I knew much about the new Ford 6ltr. I told him that I had heard about engine management problems. I told him that I would ask you guys about the engine and any problems that you know about. His daughter and son-in-law are looking at Ford trucks.
Is the 6ltr a new engine or has it been around awhile? Is it a Ford design or International? Have they only had engine management problems or other as well. Please no bashing.... We already know WE own the BEST!!!
