Duramax and winter covers

I've noticed alot of Duramaxes with winter covers on already do they run rough in the cold? They have a complete cover no air holes now I thought the intercooler needed some air and Cummins advises a minimum of 100 sq in..Just wondering it's not like I would buy one or anything.
