Duramax question

Have a friend that has a 02 Duramax and wants to put a 4" exhaust and some sort of intake mods on. What can he expect? Is the software able to add more fuel to take advantage of the mods or no? I'm only familiar with the basics of the truck, so any help would be appreciated.
