One wheel drive?

My wife has a 2003 Chevy gasser 1/2 ton 4x1

that can barely make it the final 100 yards up to our house over the steep, gravel strewn, DG road. Reluctant to lay out the $$$$$ for a 4x4 just so she can tow her horse trailer,

I hope to opt for a limited slip/Posi-traction type of differential. I would appreciate any info as to type, make and cost. Take into consideration there will be a few days when snow and ice will be present but we do have two other 4x4's to handle the deep stuff.
