Welding a truss...

Hey guys...

Starting working on the truss over Thanksgiving, and looking for input.

Since I went with such heavy wall tubing, I decided to notch out around the pumpkin to gain an inch or so clearance the whole way across.

Question is, what rod should I use for welding the pumpking to the DOM? I'll be stick welding. I've got some Ni FeC1 rod for cast...is this good? Thoughts on Nirod? Nirod 55x, etc?
Is there any reason to fab a rear truss while I'm at it?
